Handke, Norton and Dieser named to IIAC's All-Academic Winter Team
MOUNT VERNON - Cornell College placed three men's basketball players on the Iowa Conference's All-Academic Team for the 2008-09 winter season.
The Rams honored are juniors Chris Handke (Bellevue/Bellevue) and Adam Norton (Rushford, Minn./Rushford-Peterson) and sophomore Corey Dieser (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea). Handke and Norton were recognized for the second consecutive year.
To be eligible for IIAC all-academic honors, a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and attain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The IIAC recognized 73 student-athletes in five sports this winter.
Cornell's trio also experienced success on the basketball court this season, which saw the Rams capture the IIAC Tournament title and earn a berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Cornell finished the campaign with a school-record 21 wins and seven defeats.
