Baseball Coaching Staff

Frank Fishler, Head Coach

FishlerFishler enters his seventh season as head baseball coach at Cornell. He has coached six of the top seven win totals (27, 21, 19, 17, 17, 16) in the 134-year history of Cornell baseball. Fishler's career mark is 117-112 with the Rams. A native of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Fishler graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in social studies and education. He spent four seasons as the assistant baseball coach at UW-La Crosse and served the next nine seasons as head coach at Midland (Iowa) High School, where he was twice named the Big East Conference Coach of the Year and is the school's all-time winningest baseball coach. Fishler was an assistant at Cornell for two seasons before taking over the head position. Under Fishler, nine players have been named all-Iowa Conference and four all-region. Frank and his wife, Meg, reside in Mount Vernon with their son, Gunnar.

Tom Cronk
(Pitching coach)Cronk

Cronk begins his third season with the Rams as their pitching coach. He is a graduate of Kirkwood Community College and Cornell College. Cronk has been pitching coach at Iowa City West High School the past 10 seasons and was named Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Assistant of the Year in 2002. Cronk is a physical education instructor for the Iowa City school district. He and his wife, Katie, live in North Liberty.













Josh Soper (Outfield coach)Soper

Soper enters his first season as outfield coach for the Rams. He graduated from Midland (Iowa) High School, where he was an All-Big East Conference outfielder on coach Fishler's 1998 team. Soper was an assistant coach at Midland from 2003-06 and is currently the school's head baseball coach. He is an electrician and co-owner of Soper Plumbing, Heating and Electric. Soper and his wife, Adriel, reside in Wyoming, Iowa with their son, David.













Joe Campanelli (Catchers coach)Campanelli

Campanelli begins his first season at his alma mater as the Rams' catchers coach. He is a graduate of Iowa City High School and earned a degree from Cornell in 2006 in biochemistry and molecular biology. Campanelli played baseball for the Rams for four years and was the team's captain in 2006. He was working as a Production Scientist for Integrated DNA Technologies in San Diego, Calif., before moving back to Iowa. Campanelli resides in Iowa City.


 









Lucas Stanton (Assistant coach)Stanton

Stanton begins his first season at his alma mater as an assistant on Cornell's coaching staff. Stanton, a 2002 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and kinesiology at Cornell in spring 2007. He played football four years and competed in track three years at Cornell. Stanton spent the previous two seasons on Cornell's football coaching staff. He resides in Mount Vernon.
