MOUNT VERNON — Cornell’s football team will recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month at its homecoming game against Dubuque at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ash Park Stadium.
The Rams’ coaching staff will show its support by wearing pink shirts and ribbons. The football players will have pink ribbon decals placed on their helmets and wear pink and white wrist bands.
Sodexho, the college’s food and dining services provider, is sponsoring the event. Sodexho has purchased give-away items to be handed out at the game, plus the helmet decals and wrist bands. Sodexho will donate five percent of concession stand sales to breast cancer research and recovery.
“This issue really came to light for me when two of our family’s nearest and dearest friends were diagnosed with cancer in the past year,” Cornell head football coach Matt Dillon said. “Both of these people are tremendously upbeat about their chances for a full recovery and I pray for them every day. If in our own small way we can help with this cause, then we’ll do whatever we can to help bring awareness to this issue.”
