Think of it as the best artists' loft you've ever seen. McWethy Hall served as Cornell's gymnasium for 44 years, but its original maple flooring now supports easels and design tables in two spacious studio classrooms. Up above, all senior art majors enjoy private studios with secure 24-hour access as they prepare their senior thesis exhibitions.
The rest of the building features large, up-to-date classrooms, a darkroom, and a sculpture and ceramics room. McWethy Hall also plays home to the Peter Paul Luce Gallery which hosts major exhibitions and senior thesis shows.
A new annex provides space for a computerized kiln and a foundry. And faculty studios give students insights into the artistic processes of their faculty mentors.
