GIFT POLICY FOR CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION
Last updated July 2005

Gifts of Memorial Tree

Cornell College is grateful for gifts given to purchase trees that provide living tributes in honor or memory of loved ones and that provide for the beauty of the college campus. Restricted gifts for the purchase of trees must meet the following four guidelines:

  1. Outright gifts of $500 or more must be made to Cornell College. The funds will be deposited into a current restricted account to be spent by the Facilities Management Department for the purchase and other expenses related to the tree.
  2. Donors are welcome to make recommendations as to the type of tree (must be native to the area). Final approval for the selection of the tree will be given by the Facilities Management Department.
  3. The location of the tree will be determined by the Facilities Management Department and will comply with master plan.
  4. The tree will be purchased by the Facilities Management Department at their nursery of choice and transported and planted by the college personnel.

Gifting of memorial trees will comply with the college’s master plan for buildings and grounds.

The Office of Alumni and College Advancement will maintain a complete record and map of all trees purchased by donors, their origin, their donors and their funding levels.

Other Gifts

At this time, the campus beautification plan does not include the installations of benches, markers, sculpture or other permanent fixtures on the campus.
