Sophomore Advising
As sophomores, students have a better idea of their personal educational goals and need to consider the declaration of a major, the possible development of a B.S.S. degree, fellowships, internships, and off-campus study options. It is possible that your advisee may need or want to change advisors. Provide guidance and support, assuring the advisee that this is normal during the sophomore year.Topics for consideration:
-
Review all-college requirements
-
Review Cornell's educational priorities and progress toward meeting those
-
Application deadlines for off-campus study
-
Discuss pre-law, pre-health professions, pre-MBA, teacher certification, Cornell Fellows, and national scholarships and direct interested students to appropriate offices.
