After You Deposit
Go Rams! You are now part of an incredible network of Cornellians; students, staff, faculty, and alumni who will support you in making your experience an extraordinary one. Here are some recommended next steps and important links.
1) Join the Cornell College Facebook community
Get to know other students headed to the hilltop and ask current students about their experience in our private Facebook community. Orientation leaders will post announcements, campus photos, construction updates, and information for incoming students throughout the spring and summer.
If your attempt to log into the Facebook community is unsuccessful, make sure you are using the email address we have on file (this may be different from your Facebook email). Still not working? Contact our social media coordinator, Nedah Zamani at nzamani@cornellcollege.edu for assistance.
2) Submit the Housing Preference Form
Within 1-2 business days of submitting your enrollment deposit, an email will be sent to the same personal email account with your Student ID # and instructions to complete the Housing Preference Form. Completing this form reserves your space in a residence hall. Students can submit this form more than once to update preferences and/or preferred roommate's name.
Consider a first-year community experience. These career engagement, leadership, and service community floors offer a memorable living and learning experience for those first-year students selected. Application required. Questions about residence life experiences can be posted in the Facebook community or emailed to res_life@cornellcollege.edu.
Housing placements are traditionally sent to each students' Cornell College email account in July.
3) Create your student account
Around June 1, all deposited students will receive an email with instructions to setup your college email account. This login and password information provide access to your online checklist, student email, and the student gateway. You will want to begin checking your student email account regularly for important communications and updates throughout the summer months.
*If you will not have access to email throughout the summer, please contact us by phone so we may make arrangements to get you important information.
4) Complete your online checklist
Your comprehensive online checklist is scheduled to be available on June 1. This checklist will be sent to your Cornell email account and is required for all entering students. Completing these items before you arrive will ensure your move-in day runs smoothly. Checklist items include financial aid paperwork, health forms, placement exams, first block course selection, etc. You will not be able to access your checklist prior to setting up your Cornell email account.
5) Prepare for your August arrival
Mark your calendar! New Student Orientation (NSO) week begins on new student arrival day, Tuesday, August 27. All entering students should plan to arrive on that day unless approved for early arrival. Fall athletes, international students, and others approved for early orientation programs will receive separate information regarding arrival times and locations.
NSO week is required for all first-year and transfers students. Students and families will NOT be permitted to enter residence halls early; please plan accordingly! For information about area accommodations, click here. We recommend making reservations well in advance*.
*Prior to making airline reservations, please contact our admission office at (319) 895-4215 or admission@cornellcollege.edu to inquire about our early orientation programs.
