Students offered admission to Cornell are expected to submit a $300 enrollment deposit by May 1, the National Candidate’s Reply Date. Note that $200 of your deposit is used as a residence hall room deposit and is refundable; $100 is applied toward the cost of New Student Orientation and is not refundable. Credit card processing fees are always non-refundable.
Once you enroll, the college retains your room deposit until all accounts are closed following graduation, or until you officially withdraw from the college. At the time of graduation or withdrawal, your $200 room deposit, less any amount owed to the College, is refunded to you. If at any point you plan to finish the academic year but choose not to return the following fall, you are eligible for a deposit refund if you notify the Student Affairs Office by the first Wednesday of Block 8.
If you need to request a deadline extension, please make your request through our online deposit form. Requests for deadline extensions will be considered based on merit and space availability.
If you make a deposit and subsequently choose not to attend Cornell, your deposit is refundable if you officially decline Cornell's offer of enrollment prior to May 1. To officially decline, you may use our online deposit form or call the Admission Office at 800-747-1112.
