Senior Studios & Shows

Cornell studio art majors not only get their own senior gallery show, they also enjoy their own private studio for their entire senior year. And these are no cubby holes in the basement, but spacious lofts in what was once Cornell's gymnasium, with 24-hour, secure access to create whenever they like.

For a window into what the senior art experience is all about, check out images of Emily Isenberg's studio and senior show, and read more below the gallery.

Emily Isenberg's Senior Show

"I really enjoyed having a personal studio space to keep and hang work," says Isenberg, an art and elementary education major. "I used the studio as much as possible during any free time, while working around other classes and student teaching. It provided a space where I could work at a larger scale and not have to worry about getting in any one's way.

Having a senior show provided a chance to work independently and was something to look forward to.  It is an exciting opportunity that allows you to share your work, and also see how your peer's work has grown and changed."

Isenberg adds that Cornell's One Course At A Time schedule also provides benefits to artists.

"The most valuable part about studying art at Cornell is the opportunity to focus solely on art for an entire block while being continuously challenged and guided throughout the experience," Isenberg says. "The block plan challenges and motivates you to create more work in a shorter amount of time. And our classes were able to visit surrounding museums, as well."

After Cornell, Isenberg plans for a career in art education.
