We welcome transfer students, and do our best to accommodate the range of timeframes in which transfers might take place. The options below illustrate three scenarios.
Fall Term Transfers - Priority Decision
If you want to begin attending Cornell in the fall, we urge you to apply by March 1. By meeting this deadline you will earn priority consideration for admission and scholarships, and we will reply by April 1.
Fall Term Transfers - Regular Decision
We know that many transfer decisions occur near the end of the academic year, and we accept transfer applications until May 1. After May 1, applications will only be considered if space allows.
Spring Term Transfers
If you want to transfer mid-year, you will apply for our February term. We encourage you to apply by November 1 for priority consideration, and we will reply by December 1. Note: The February Term option is not available to international students.
