Recruiting students with CARE
A chance to share firsthand knowledge and show case their postgraduate success is exactly what Cornell’s alumni are doing through the CARE program. CARE involves alumni who are located all over the United States. Some are clustered together in larger cities such as Chicago, Minneapolis and Denver. Other alumni are representing Cornell on a more individual basis such as Sheila Kruse-Boyce '85 who is located in Florida.
So what are the CARE alumni doing for the Admission Office? The CARE alumni enable Cornell to greatly increase the college’s representation at admission events. This coverage is vital if we want to reach out to as many high school students as possible, which is critical especially in today’s very competitive admission environment. CARE alumni assist with college fairs, greet families during hotel interviews, serve as panelists for receptions, make referrals of high school students, drop off materials at local high schools, email applicants from their local area, etc. The volunteer time is priceless to the efforts of the Admission Office.
