This is a program designed specifically for incoming students who are concerned about easing the transition to college and may have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a high level of anxiety when dealing with new situations.
QuickStart Early Orientation takes place during the day before all other new students arrive on campus. Parents and students stay off campus at local hotel but come to campus on Tuesday, August 30th and spend the day with the Coordinator of Academic Support and Advising.
There is a campus tour, sessions on academic skills, social skills and just some basic topics. The main value of this program is getting to campus before everyone else is here and acclimating a little bit before the fun and noise of Orientation begins. This year the students are not sleeping in the hall overnight but can inquire about seeing their room early by contacting the Coordinator of Academic Support and Advising.
If you are an incoming student and you feel you may be eligible for this program, please email the Coordinator of Academic Support and Advising and request an application and schedule for the day.
All students need to be signed up by August 5th and need to participate in the scheduled activities for the day. Family members, siblings, are welcome to attend as well.
