Daily Schedule

Week 1

Day 1 Chapter 11a

  • Review: o-declension (2nd decl.), nominative case, and present active tense
  • Grammar: what is the aorist tense; second aorist, active and middle; augment
  • Hwk: 1) write out the declension of ho adelphos "brother" and to ergon "deed"; write out the conjugation of
    2) complete the vocabulary review for chs 1-11; work on the vocabulary for chapter 11a-b; memorize the second aorists on p. 181
    3) Ex 11 beta-gamma (leave out the future tense for now); Ex 11 delta-epsilon (skip the future for now); Ex 11 eta
    4) Read "Greek Science and Medicine" in Athenaze
    5) Do the exercises in Ariadne for Chapter 11 (images, culture)
    6) carefully read the Greek reading passage for Ch 11a; practice reading aloud

Day 2 Chapter 11b-12a

  • Review: a-declension (1st decl.), accusative case, and present middle tense
  • Grammar: irregular 2nd aorists; sigmatic aorist (1st aorist); aspect
  • Culture: Greek science and medicine
  • Hwk: 1) write out the declension of he adelphe "sister" and ho polites "citizen"
    2) work on vocabulary for Chs 11b-12a; memorize the irregular second aorists on p. 189
    3) Ex 11 iota, kappa, lambda; Ex 12 beta, gamma (skip the future), epsilon, zeta
    4) Ariadne Ch 11 oral script
    5) Read Greek reading for Ch 11b and be prepared to act out one of the paragraphs; read Greek reading for Ch 12a and for each paragraph, write one sentence about one of the characters in that paragraph

Day 3 Chapter 12b

  • Review: 3rd declension, genitive case, participles
  • Grammar: 1st aorist of verbs with liquid and nasal stems; irregular first aorists
  • Hwk: 1) write out the declension of ho limen "the harbor" and to hudor "the water"
    2) work on vocabulary for Ch 12; memorize the irregular sigmatic aorists on p. 208
    3) Ex 12 delta, epsilon, eta, theta, kappa, lambda
    4) Ariadne Ch 12 culture section
    5) Read Greek reading for Ch 12b
    6) Write in Greek, using the aorist, four things that you did recently.

Day 4 Chapter 13

  • Review: dative case, imperatives
  • Grammar: imperfect tense, aspect

  • Hwk: 1) work on vocabulary for Ch 13; memorize the irregular verbs on p. 215

  • Grammar: comparative and superlative adjectives; irregular comparatives
